Interested in Medicare Set-Aside Arrangements New York, New York—February 15—The founding members of the Board of Directors of the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals, Inc., (NAMSAP), announces the launch of the only non-profit organization dedicated to the Medicare Set-Aside industry. The mission of the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals, Inc. (NAMSAP) is to foster the highest standards of integrity and competence among Medicare Set-Aside professionals and those they serve. The purposes of NAMSAP are: 1. To develop standards and define best practices for the industry; “NAMSAP fills a critical need -- to educate our members so that they are increasingly knowledgeable of the federal regulations surrounding Medicare Set-Aside allocations,” said Patty Meifert, RN, CRRN, CCM, CLCP, CEO of NuQuest Resources and Bridge Pointe, and President of the new non-profit. “NAMSAP was formed to help individuals and organizations address claims impacted by the Medicare Secondary Payer Statute (MSP).” The MSP is federal legislation designed to prevent the shifting of responsibility from a primary payer to the federal government in liability and workers’ compensation claims. In addition to Meifert, founding members of the Board of Directors include Robert T. Lewis, Esq., Capehart & Scatchard, P.A., NAMSAP’s Vice President and Chairman of the Communications Committee; Tim Nay, Esq., M.S.W., Nay & Friedenberg, NAMSAP’s Secretary and Chairman of the Membership Committee; and Michele Whitmore, President of Settlement Strategies, Inc., NAMSAP’s Treasurer. The organization’s primary goals, initiatives and member benefits will include Education (Training seminars, Webinars and Conferences) and providing resources and networking opportunities (ListServs, Directories, Newsletters and Articles). Standards and Practices and a Referral Service will follow. Membership is open to Claims Adjusters, Insurance Carriers, Life Care Planners, Medicare Set-Aside Allocators, Nurses, Professional Administrators, Self-Insured Employers, Settlement Planners, Social Workers, Special Needs Trust Attorneys, Structured Settlement Professionals, Third Party Administrators, Tort/Personal Injury Attorneys, Trustees and Workers’ Compensation Attorneys. Annual membership dues are $275 for Professional and Associate Members. All members who join in 2005 will be designated as charter members. The processing fee of $50 per member is waived for charter members. NAMSAP’s Executive Vice President, responsible for managing the affairs of the organization, is Holly Koenig, a Vice President of the Kellen Company, a world leader in association management. Koenig has 17 years experience in managing non-profits. NAMSAP’s main operations will be headquartered in Kellen’s New York City office.
